Will Bircumshaw

Fun Squad tutor

Will is a keen footballer and cricketer, who is also able to turn his hand to anything - except, perhaps, sewing! He brings joy and enthusiasm to our Fun Squad courses and becomes particularly competite in our Manhunt games.

Abi Mason

Fun Squad tutor

Abi loves working with children both in an out of the classroom as a Year 3 teacher. She is a keen musician and sailor, who brings boundless energy to all she does. Abi also never lets an opportunity to dress up pass her by.

Ruth Massey

director: Singing Squad

Ruth was recently Director of Music at Ranby House School, the independent junior school attached to Worksop College. She has been inspiring children with her passion for music for several years, having previously been a professional singer in London. With groups including The Sixteen, The Tallis Scholars and Eric Whitacre Singers, she has travelled the world's concert halls, recorded over 100 CDs, and sung on lots of Hollywood soundtracks, including Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean. She has recently taken on a role masterminding a huge concert for disabled children with the charity Music of Life. Ruth loves finding the spark of brilliance in all children and bringing out the best in them.

Dan Simpson

director: Fun Squad & head of pastoral: Singing Squad

Dan has vast experience of working with children and teenagers. He is a Year 5 teacher and Safeguarding Lead at his current school. In a previous role he was Head of Key Stage 3, responsible for the pastoral care of over 400 Year 7 and 8 pupils. Dan has a passion for developing children's love of the outdoors and getting them to work together.

Victoria Gray

Singing Squad tutor

Victoria is one of the area's most highly regarded singing teachers. She is passionate about encouraging confidence and a joy of singing in young people. Victoria began her vocal journey in the Cantamus Girls Choir and then won a Scholarship to study at The Royal College of Music in London, where she gained a Degree and Masters in Music and Performance. She has performed in some Incredible venues around the world, recorded albums with both Warner Brothers and EMI, sang for the Queen as part of the Jubilee and BBC’s Festival of Remembrance, sang the national anthem at the FA Cup Final at Wembley, and has performed in many operas - most recently an Olivier Award-winning opera for English National Opera.

Matthew Wright

Singing Squad tutor

Matthew is a singer, organist and teacher. He began his career as an Organ Scholar at St George’s Parish Church, Doncaster and then went on to train as a professional opera singer at Birmingham Conservatoire and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Matthew has sung with many of the leading international opera companies including Glyndebourne, Bergen National Opera and Wexford Festival Opera. As Musician in Residence at Ranby House, he helps children develop their technique and become rounded musicians. Matthew has starred in a BBC Comic Relief sketch, playing David Brent alongside Ricky Gervais in 'The Office, The Opera'.

Suzzie Vango

Singing Squad tutor

Suzzie has forged a successful career taking her all over the UK and internationally to work with professional and amateur organisations and their singers and choirs of all ages. She is the Conductor of National Children's Choir of Great Britain and Ex Cathedra Girls Academy, and is Head of Vocal Studies at Bromsgrove School.
